The overall economic level of the district is still in the first group among all the districts (cities) and counties in Sichuan Province, and it has also been ranked No.4 among “the Top 10 Comprehensive Strength Counties in Sichuan” for five consecutive years. Additionally, as a powerhouse of traditional industry and commerce, the district enjoys solid industrial base and there are 337 industrial enterprises above state designated scale, 26 listed companies or branches and 19 Fortune Global 500 companies. It not only has obvious advantages in such five traditional industries as mechanical and electrical equipment, medicine, food, furniture and packing and printing, but also witnesses the robust developing in the three leading industries of rail transit, aviation and modern logistics.

To be specific, the whole industry chain of its transportation industry has initially taken shape, since it gathers an industrial cluster with CRRC OEM as the leader and Jinchuang Group, Xinyu Group and Beijing Dinghan Technology Co., Ltd. as the auxiliary factories, covering the services of whole car manufacturing, R&D, maintenance, etc.; in aviation industry, it is the only cluster district capable of aero-engine manufacturing and R&D besides Shenyang, harboring core enterprises such as AECC Aero Science and Technology Co., Ltd. and China Gas Turbine Establishment, and is honored as the provincial demonstration base of civil-military integration; as for modern logistics, it boasts the largest highway logistics port in Southwest China with over 1,600 logistics enterprises (including Prologis, DHL, Transfar Group and other large logistics platforms) and 35 well-known  e-commerce enterprises like Alibaba and JDcom.

In 2016, the regional GDP was RMB 63.22 billion, increasing (year-on-year, similarly hereinafter) 8%, among which the growth values in the primary industry, secondary industry and tertiary industry are RMB 2.64 billion, RMB 37.55 billion and RMB 23.03 billion, increasing 3.9%, 7.7% and 9.2% respectively and separately contributing to 2.1%57.6% and 40.3% of the economic growth of the district. The three industrial structure adjustments are 4.259.436.4. Besides, it has gained the general public budget revenues of RMB 5.01 billion, full-caliber tax revenue of RMB 8.15 billion, fixed-asset investment of RMB 47.49 billion, total retail sales of consumer goods of RMB 15.36 billion, total volume of foreign trade of RMB 2.38 billion, and the per capital disposable incomes of RMB 37,141 for urban residents and RMB 21,071 for rural residents.
